Purpose

This SOP outlines the standard guidelines for safe handling, storage, application, and management of fertilizers to ensure maximum efficiency, crop safety, and environmental protection.

Scope

This procedure applies to all fertilizers supplied and used for field crops, vegetables, fodder, and other agricultural applications.

1. Product Selection

  • Select fertilizer based on crop type, soil analysis, and growth stage.
  • Follow recommended nutrient requirements and technical guidelines.

3. Handling & Safety Measures

  • Use gloves, masks, and protective clothing during handling.

  • Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes.

  • Wash hands thoroughly after handling fertilizers.

5. Timing of Application

  • Apply fertilizers at appropriate crop growth stages.

  • Avoid application during extreme weather conditions.

7. Monitoring & Record Keeping

  • Monitor crop response regularly.

  • Maintain records of fertilizer type, quantity, and application date.

2. Storage Procedure

  • Store fertilizers in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse.

  • Keep bags sealed and protected from moisture and direct sunlight.

  • Stack bags properly to avoid damage and contamination.

4. Application Method

    • Apply fertilizers using recommended methods such as broadcasting, side dressing, or fertigation.

    • Use calibrated equipment for accurate application.

    • Do not exceed recommended dosage levels.

6. Irrigation Guidelines

  • Irrigate fields as required after fertilizer application to enhance nutrient absorption.

  • Avoid excessive irrigation to prevent nutrient loss.
    •
